What motivates me? #smed12

I have a list of things that motivates me. The first one is the challenges that I am faced with each day. The challenges I face too achieve and make a success of various aspects in my life. I have set out certain goals for myself ,and the best part is when you are successful and when you achieve.  When you reach your goals and believe that you can achieve, and be successful. That is one of the best motivators even when times are tough.

Happiness and love also motivates me. Everyone wants to be happy, love and be loved. Happiness is one of the key reasons we do things. You do things that make you happy, that make you smile and brings joy. It feels good helping others and sharing with those in need. It fills my heart with love when my happiness motivates others.

It feels good when you receive blessings and when you are able to share your happiness and love with others. Therefore success, achievement, sharing love and happiness with others is the driving force when it comes to motivation.

The 10 most unexpected consequences of being online #smed12

Online media tools have certainly changed our lives by exposing us to an awesome digital era.

These are my most unexpected consequences experienced when online.

  • I can Skype and communicate with my friends and family overseas and see them while we talk.
  • It’s awesome having 24 hour access to communication platforms and the best part it’s free of cost.
  • I can download the newspaper app and read the newspaper articles from my Ipad.
  • Going on Facebook at work to discover that six of my colleagues and the supervisor is online.
  • The worst is filling in the wrong recipient while using internet banking.
  • Selling several items on Gumtree.
  • Preparing for an interview while doing research about the company online with easy access to their information.
  • Engaging in live discussions on Linkedin with people I have never met before.
  • Wishing friends on Facebook for their birthday and using Facebook as a reminder.
  • Sending emails to the wrong person.
  • Getting friend requests from random people
  • Reconnecting with primary and high school friends online and arranging our reunion on social networks.

The Elephant in The room #smed12

When I think of an elephant it reminds me of our trip to Knysna. We went to visit the Knysna Elephant Park. This was a very interesting experience. The sound of the Elephants low rumbling noise and their trumpeting that was a warm welcome to the park.

I was scared though, being that close to the largest mammal on earth, with its big ears and wrinkled skin. Exciting and yet scary even though we had a tour guide with us. When they said we could move a few steps closer I refused to make physical contact with this awesome creature. They might be very intelligent animals but having them in a room with me, won’t be considered fun.

It was a fun filled experience even though I didn’t do the elephant back rides. I was scared therefore I rather enjoyed the scenery and I took beautiful pictures. I learned a lot about the animals and their history. So that is a must experience when you on holiday in the garden route.

Elephants should be in their natural habitat and definitely not in a room……..
“To know an elephant is to be touched by him - these gentle giants humble mankind. He is nature's greatest Masterpiece”. (John Donne)

Every Day is a good day #smed12

How many times do we complain in one day? Have we ever thought of how blessed we are to be able to face another day? Too breath and experience life, and at the same time to make a difference?
We always talk about the stuff we want and need. Or we highlight everything that has gone wrong. We are faced with trials and tribulations on a daily basis.  And when we have a good day, we should thank and praise the Lord for his mercy. Every day won’t be a good day.
We all walk a different path in life and some have more blessings than others. We always talk about the bad day that we had, have we ever thought of making it a good day for someone else.
  •  Feeding a hungry child,
  •  saying a prayer for the sick,
  •  developing skills in our communities,
  •  doing motivational speaking at schools?
Maybe everyday can be a good day if we reach out to those in need. To give and share and make a difference in someone’s life, can surely help you have a good day every day.

Count your blessings one by one! If you give you shall receive and each new day will be a good day.

Our greatest strengths are our greatest weaknesses #smed12

I don’t agree with the statement above.  Strengths are the things you are exceptionally good at and weaknesses are the things we constantly struggle with. So our greatest strength could not possibly be our greatest weaknesses.
It’s amazing when you are tasked in a grouped to work on a specific project. The first thing we do is allocate the tasks according to each individual’s strength. This is so that we can manage the project successfully.  This allows the group to be very productive because each individual has a chance to show their skills.
It’s like on school when we had trials for athletics. You won’t put your name on for high jump if you are a brilliant athlete. You take part in the sport which is your biggest strength.
It is possible for your weakness too become a strength If you can’t work on a computer and you go for computer lessons, and you practice everyday that can easily become your strength.

It reminds me of the lyrics of “I didn’t know my own strength” by Whitney Houston”. Where she says I didn’t know my own strength
Survived my darkest hour
My faith kept me alive
I picked myself back up
Hold my head up high
I was not built to break
I didn’t know my own strength
Therefore it is best to know what you are good at and to work on your weaknesses so that it can become a STRENGHT!
