It’s the rugby season so that means it’s Newlands
time again. The spirits are high on a cold Saturday morning while we are
getting ready for the match between the DHL Stormers and the Lions. I'm extremely excited with my grand stand tickets in a safe place lol
The rugby spirit is all over Cape Town at every
traffic light you see people selling a Stormers cap, scarf, flags or
t-shirts (and it even looks like an original).
Then we get to Groote Schuur High school. DHL
Stormers supporters everywhere. People celebrating before the rugby
match with a drink or two while braaing and getting their spirits high
before the match. People from different backgrounds,
races and religions sharing the rugby spirit on this cold winters day.
It’s amazing how we can stand together for
sport. It seems like it’s the only time we can somehow look past
colour, religion and background. Just for the love of the game and
thereafter everything goes back to normal.Luckily the Stormers won the match and fans could celebrate even after the match.
It’s a pity we can’t always stand together as a nation, but rather for the love of the game.
